CG Vincent Spera’s Last Visit to Masilo Clinic

In a symbolic gesture marking the conclusion of his term, the US Consular General, Mr. Vincent Spera, recently conducted his final facility visit in the Free State Province. His destination was the Masilo Clinic, a beacon of hope and health in the heart of Masilonyana Subdistrict, Lejweleputswa district. This visit, supported by the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), brought together a distinguished senior management delegation from the province and district Departments of Health (DoH), US government officials, and Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs).

A highlight of the visit was a roundtable discussion, co-facilitated by Wits RHI and the District DoH, which delved deep into the activities, successes, and challenges surrounding the implementation of community-based care. The diverse stakeholders present included Occupational Therapy Leaders (OTL), Community Health Workers (CHWs), members of the clinic committee, and representatives from NPOs focusing on Key Populations (KP), Children/Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) initiatives.

Wits RHI, a pivotal player in this collaborative effort, received resoundingly positive feedback from Provincial, District, and CG Spera himself on the remarkable innovations and steadfast support provided to the district. The roundtable discussion not only showcased the progress made but also served as a platform for addressing ongoing challenges and strategizing for the future.

As CG Spera bids farewell to South Africa, Wits RHI seizes this moment to express profound gratitude for his unwavering support and commitment throughout his tenure.
