The Changing Map: Global Health on Shifting Sands
In recent months, global health’s familiar landmarks have shifted, funding streams have dried up, new national priorities have emerged, and old certainties have blown away like sand in the wind. The once-straight path from donor capitals to the Global South is now a tangle of regional hubs, local manufacturing, shifting philanthropic priorities, and volatile politics.
Core tenets, from the role of the World Health Organization to global funding agencies, face challenges even as the world unites around a Pandemic Agreement.
Do the pillars of global health still hold, or must they be reimagined, and how should this new map shape the agendas of academic institutions like Wits University?
