Researchers are currently testing prototypes of a new vaginal ring design in a study that aims to finalize a dual-purpose ring for preventing both HIV and unplanned pregnancy. This study is part of MATRIX, a USAID project focused on advancing research and development of innovative HIV prevention products for women. Taking place in the United States, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, the evaluation of these prototypes will inform the selection of the ring to be used in the initial clinical trial.
