Wits RHI Empowers Communities and Changes Lives During Mandela Month
In honor of Mandela Month, Wits RHI, with the support of Wits Health Consortium HR, took significant steps to uplift communities in need by donating essential items to shelters in Hillbrow and Tshwane. This year’s theme, “Empowering Communities, Changing Lives,” served as a guiding principle, driving Wits RHI to extend its support to the Frida Hartley Shelter and Door of Hope, two non-profit organisations making a tangible impact in Johannesburg.
A total of 14 boxes brimming with food, toiletries, and clothing for both adults and babies were handed over to these shelters, along with vouchers to further support their efforts. The donations, a testament to the generosity and compassion of Wits RHI staff, reflect the organisation’s commitment to the well-being of vulnerable populations.
Moreover, in Tshwane, the Coach Impilo team embraced Mandela Day by engaging with the community in a meaningful way. They provided health education, conducted HIV testing, and distributed clothing, reinforcing the spirit of giving that characterizes Mandela Month.
