Historic Recognition for Wits RHI 7 Esselen Street with Blue Heritage Plaque

Blue Heritage Plaque Awarded to Wits RHI Site at 7 Esselen Street

We are excited to announce that our Wits RHI site at 7 Esselen Street has been awarded a blue heritage plaque by the Johannesburg Heritage Society (JHS). This significant recognition marks the site as an official ‘Heritage Site’ and makes it the second medical school plaque in Johannesburg.

The blue plaque symbolises the rich history and architectural importance of our location, celebrating its contributions to the field of medicine and public health in South Africa. The Johannesburg Heritage Society aims to protect and promote the city’s historical and cultural landmarks, and we are honored to be included in this distinguished group.

The award of the blue plaque not only highlights the historical significance of our site but also reflects Wits RHI’s commitment to excellence in research and education.  We look forward to continuing our work in this historic location, contributing to the legacy of medical education and research in Johannesburg.

This recognition serves as a reminder of our dedication to innovation and excellence in the healthcare sector, and we are proud to share this honor with our staff, partners, and the communities we serve. Join us in celebrating this milestone as we strive to uphold the values of heritage, education, and public health excellence at Wits RHI.
