Prof Helen Rees Delivered a Keynote Address at the International Pandemic Sciences Conference 2024

On 1 July 2024, Prof Helen Rees, Executive Director of Wits RHI, delivered a keynote address at the International Pandemic Sciences Conference 2024, hosted by the Pandemic Sciences Institute at the University of Oxford. The conference, which took place from 1-2 July 2024, brought together representatives from academia, industry, policy, and civil society, both in Oxford, United Kingdom, and online.
The conference’s 2024 theme, “Collaboration Beyond Boundaries,” aimed to explore how researchers can unite across geographical, disciplinary, and sectoral boundaries to expedite practical solutions to global pandemic threats. Prof Rees’s keynote highlighted lessons learned from African outbreaks, focusing on understanding evolving contexts, the need for equitable research support, and combating misinformation.
