30 April 2024
On 30th April 2024, the Tshwane and Ekurhuleni Gophelega AYFS and Community team stood in support of Gauteng’s Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Strategy launch. The event, graced by Gauteng’s MEC of Health, marked a pivotal moment with key departments like Maternal Child Health (MCH), Adolescents and Youth Friendly Services (AYFS), Integrated School Health Programme (ISHP), and the Nutrition directorate coming together with government sectors and partners.
Acknowledging Wits RHI’s significant role and contributions to the strategy’s development and continuous district support, Wits RHI Tshwane District Health’s presence highlighted a dedicated commitment to adolescent health and well-being. At the core of the strategy lie essential components such as ISHP and AYFS, which advocate for a holistic approach to empower young individuals with knowledge about reproductive health and responsible decision-making. Through an emphasis on prevention, education, and community engagement, the strategy strives to cultivate a nurturing environment that supports the overall well-being of adolescents and youth.
