Overview
The Coalition to Accelerate and Support Prevention Research (CASPR) is an Africa-centered initiative aimed at advancing biomedical HIV prevention research through advocacy, policy engagement, research preparedness, and community engagement. This project fosters collaboration among stakeholders to drive innovative, ethical, and effective HIV prevention strategies that address the unique challenges of the epidemic in Africa and beyond.
Purpose
CASPR’s purpose is to establish a sustainable network dedicated to promoting advocacy, policy, regulatory support, community engagement, and communication efforts that accelerate HIV prevention research and its implementation.
Objectives
- Advocacy
Build an informed and influential advocacy movement that engages stakeholders at all levels from civil society to political leaders to champion prevention research and its implementation. - Research Translation
Develop and disseminate tailored messages and materials that effectively communicate the evolving narrative of prevention research to diverse audiences. - Research Preparedness
Facilitate the swift and ethical conduct of biomedical prevention trials, with a specific focus on implementing Good Participatory Practice (GPP) principles. - Policy Engagement
Highlight the critical role of research in shaping global, regional, and national strategies to end the HIV epidemic.
Geographic Scope
The project has a regional focus on Africa, with key activities conducted in South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria. Additional activities extend to the USA and India, reflecting its global relevance and reach.
