Landmark HPV Study: Landmark Evidence for Cervical Cancer Prevention

A Wits RHI-led study provides the first population-level evidence globally that a national HPV vaccination programme can be highly effective in a high HIV-prevalence setting.

Cervical cancer remains a major health challenge, particularly for women living with HIV. New research led by Wits RHI, in partnership with the Kirby Institute at the University of New South Wales, provides important population-level evidence on the effectiveness of HPV vaccination in a high HIV-prevalence setting. The findings strengthen the evidence base for integrated cervical cancer prevention.
